Om

I am a Norwegian painter, based in Norway by the Åsenfjord in Trøndelag — with a studio in Heistern, Germany, and longstanding ties to both countries. With over two decades at the easel and more than fifty exhibitions, I work in oil and acrylic, in transparent layers of Mussini paint without visible brushstrokes — a technique I learned as a student of Martin Knipphals (German painter, oil) and Nikolai Arnaudov (Bulgarian painter, acrylic). I stretch my own canvases. My core work is gathered in three series: Nordnorge — sea, mountain, sky and ice, anchored in my father's heritage from Træna and the Helgeland coast; Kule på blad — symbolic compositions in which the round form carries a quiet narrative; and Trapper — surreal-poetic paintings about transition. In parallel I develop a more intimate Botany series in acrylic and collage, and place-based works from my travels in southern Europe and a total of 2.5 years in Morocco. My first major solo exhibition took place at Gut Schöntal in Langerwehe in 2005. Since 2008 I have been a regular participant in Eschweiler Art Open, and have shown my work at Dürener Tor (solo exhibition opened by the Mayor of Düren), the Town Hall of Kreuzau, Schloss Corvey in Höxter (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Wasserturm Merzenich, and several Norwegian galleries - Galleri Grønneset in Skaun, Galleri Hørne in Røros, and Galleri Mølla in Melhus. In 2026 I participate in Art Basel Week with ARTboxy, was jury-selected for ARTBOX.PROJECT Zurich 8.0 (September), and will be shown at Eschweiler Art Open in November. More at artigliv.com.
